A Word To My Readers
This is a story of a fifteen year old girl and her journey through love, loss, and the beginning stages of bipolar disorder.
I started this project in 2004 as my journal, a way to write down all of my thoughts and feelings.
For many years it remained my secret little book, hiding from the light of day, including from me. While moving, I came across it once more.
In the past few years I have been having trouble dealing with my childhood and early adulthood, seeing many therapists and only one has ever really helped. But for some reason, I had this nagging feeling that I needed to revisit my past in order to overcome it.
Over the months of revision, adding in what I had left so bare in my “journal”, I have begun to heal.
In many ways this memoir is meant to be a part of my healing process. I can only hope that it can effect and help heal others as well, knowing that they are not alone in this world and this journey. Our stories may not be the same, but the pain that we all feel is genuine and true. Every walk of life has experienced pain in one shape or form. This is just one account of some of the horrible things that an individual has had to endure.
With all that being said, I come away from this project with a renewed sense of self. Many of the chapters of my life are beginning to close to allow me the opportunity to enjoy opening others.
I ask you to only keep in mind that the words written in this memoir are that of a fifteen year old that has had to tolerate her fair share of pangs along the way. Only in some small aspects do I feel nearly as troubled as I was years ago.
I would like to thank each and every person who feels inclined to read my story and urge all people to walk a similar journey as I have. You do not need to post it out on if wish not to do so, but I guarantee that the process is incredibly gratifying even if you are your only audience.

That Where I Got It eBook Lexi Johnston Reviews
Even though I have different beliefs, it really is eye-opening for how hard it is to be gay and how depressed the way one is treated could make them. Everyone deserves to be loved and the girl's mom's boyfriend is a jerk for what he did to her. Worth the read.
I enjoyed the poems in this book but I found the story to be very pro self harm, using phrases such as "it really helped", "it felt great", and even "I felt everyone should do it". Therefore I wouldn't recommend this to anyone trying to recover from self harm. I also ended abruptly, with no mention of recovery or even attempt at recovery. I found it a bit distressing at times.
